Adult Markings: "I have been unable to detect any difference in the external appearance of the adults of A. dissimulatrix and A. nyssaecolella. Nevertheless, the genitalia of the two species leave no doubt that dissimulatrix is a distinct species" (Neunzig, 2003).

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: All of our confirmed records for this species come from Coastal Plain sites located near blackwater wetlands, although upland stands may be closely adjacent.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed on tupelo, and Heinrich (1956) listed Swamp Tupelo (Nyssa biflora) as a host plant. All of our sites where this species has been confirmed by dissection are located in habitats that contain N. biflora, although Blackgum (N. sylvatica) may also be present. - View
