16 Eastern Pondhawk [Erythemis simplicicollis] Durham 2002-07-01 H. Geiser 2 ENRI - Male and female observed at river's edge on the Cole Mill Trail, mating in the wheel position. The male was perched on a rock and the female flew by; the male attached and the mating took place as they were perched on a rock. Afterwards, the female perched for a short time and then began laying her eggs in the water at algea spots. The male flew above her and protected her from other male dragonflies as she was laying her eggs. They mated twice while being observed. Sight
