| Distribution | According to Weakley et al (2023), known from the Piedmont and Mountains of North Carolina. Collected by B.A. Sorrie on a roadside within the Sandhills of Moore County on 6 March 2024; specimen deposited at NCU. The only specimen for NC at SERNEC is one from 1958 in Robeson County; it needs vetting.
Native to the Old World, in N.A. vouchered from NC and TN south to nw FL and e TX. | |
| Abundance | Apparently rare. The Moore County population consisted of 10 small clumps of stems. | |
| Habitat | Mesic grassy roadside, not far from a stand of alien bamboo. | |
| Phenology | Full flower on 6 March (2024); a few fresh flowers seen on the 15th. | |
| Identification | Similar to the Jonquil (N. jonquilla), but the corona is longer, and only a solitary flower per flowering stem. | |
| Taxonomic Comments | Apparently derived from hybrids of N. jonquilla and N. pseudonarcissus.
