DistributionCoastal Plain only, at the present time (Weakley 2023). However, the SERNEC database shows no records for this entity.

"South America (Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil); also in se. North America, the distribution poorly understood because of previous lack of recognition." (Weakley 2023)
AbundanceApparently uncommon, but poorly known, as it has been confused with other taxa.

IdentificationExtremely similar to another exotic species -- I. triloba, but I. grandifolia has "Sepals 8-14 mm long, lanceolate", as opposed to I. triloba having "Sepals 5-7 mm long, oblong" (Weakley 2023). Both have small pink to lavender flowers, with three-lobed leaves.
