DistributionFirst discovered in NC by Becky Dill in Anson County in June of 2022. Plants grew in a large stand of planted Panicum virgatum var. virgatum (not native to this site) at the Pee Dee NWR.

Native in western LA and TX; introduced eastward.
AbundanceLocally common at the single site.
HabitatNon-natural stand of tall grass.
PhenologyFlowers in late May to early June.
IdentificationSpecimen at NCU was verified and annotated by John Kees.
Taxonomic CommentsOften considered as Gaura lindheimeri.
