DistributionThere is a single specimen at SERNEC database: Mecklenburg, weedy lawn, Charlotte, taken in 2008.

Mostly Midwestern, from IL and MO to TX; scattered E to KY, TN, AL; introduced in MD, NC.
AbundanceVery rare.
Habitat"Weedy lawn" in urban Charlotte.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting June-September.
IdentificationPlants potentially can grow to 5 feet, but the NC specimen is less than 2 feet. Leaves occur throughout the stem height, lance-shaped to narrowly elliptic, blunt, margins not toothed. Heads occur terminally, singly or in a tight cluster, heads circular in cross-section and with bristly loooking bracts. Rays and discs are yellow. Leaves, stem, and usually the bracts are sticky or resinous.
