Description: A green species with a rufous tinge to the wings, more prevalent in some specimens. There are distinctive head markings, with four black dots around the margin of the vertex. The abdominal segments can be lined in red. The female pregenital sternite is mostly black, with a shallow and relatively flat excavation.

Habitats: Has been found in brushy, grassy open areas.
Plant Associates:
Behavior: Can be attracted at night with a light.
Comment: NOTE: There may be a couple other possible Cicadula species that could occur in NC. It is important to photograph the underside to determine species, especially if a female, and to get a nice image of the head markings.
