Description: A distinctive pale species; no other species in the state resembles it. The wings are large and generally pale, with black venation, dark smudges on the hindwings, and dark marks on the forewings. The body is pale to light brown in color, sometimes reddish. Abundance: Several records in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain; can be quite abundant where found.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Has been found in swampy, marshy habitat.
Plant Associates: Sabal palmetto (cabbage palmetto, Arecaceae), Acer (Maple, Aceraceae) (UDEL)
Behavior: Sometimes attracted at night with a light.
Comment: Paramysidia are the only U.S. Derbidae that hold their wings in a 'mothilike' pose; unsurprisingly, Paramysidia can sometimes be mistaken as moths. (UDEL)
